In this position, I am responsible for ensuring operational management and sustainability. I coordinate resources from both our youth and adult programs to create a wholistic and compelling program for our community. My responsibilities range from logistical and administrative support, to development and grant writing, to program evaluation and strategic planning. One of my biggest accomplishments at Sail Nauticus has been creating a strategic planning process for our department, which we have used extensively for our after-school program, Sail Nauticus Academy. This process has resulted in a growth of our data collection and analysis, and has resulted in Sail Nauticus being recognized by US Sailing as the leading center for data collection in the Mid-Atlantic region. Additionally, it has created a growth culture within the organization, and as such we are consistently looking for new and innovative ways to expand our reach within the community. This position has allowed me ample opportunity for growth, and has allowed me to gain and refine skills in project management, strategic planning, critical thinking, and creative problem solving.
Office Administrator
As the Office Administrator, I created the accounting and administrative systems still in place at Sail Nauticus today. I set up and grew our social media accounts, which have now become our biggest marketing resource. Additionally, I developed the Sail Nauticus brand, and built a large portfolio of marketing resources that resulted in a 90% growth in our membership program between 2014-16.
Summer Data Fellow At Memphis College Prep
At Memphis College Prep, I participated in a 10-week fellowship through Education Pioneers focused on developing the school's data-driven culture. I was the project manager for researching and implementing the new Illuminate DNA data platform to provide a more wholistic view of student academic success. In addition, I provided logistical and operational support by implementing new accounting systems and refining their after-school programming. Additionally, I participated in a 13-person cohort of top graduate students and emerging leaders as part of EP's 2017 Summer Fellowship. I attained leadership, networking, and education industry as part of the professional development program offerings, and participated in an impactful research project focused on black male teacher pipelines in the state of Tennessee.
