New Local is an independent think tank and network with a mission to transform public services and unlock community power. Our practice work connects directly with councils, the NHS, and others to enable them to transform into community-powered organisations. I lead and support projects around the country with senior officers, elected councillors and community organisations to transform strategy, organisational culture and delivery models towards a community-powered approach. I also lead the development of partnership programmes developing both local and national approaches to shifting towards community-powered policy and practice across specific issues and sectors.

Providing freelance consultancy and interim leadership to diverse mission-driven organisations. Strategy development, process/policy design, facilitation and project management across education, civic tech and social innovation (incl. Challenge Works, mySociety, EDT, Skills Builder, Koru Kids).

The Relationships Project is building a better society by building better relationships. I designed and led The Lookout, a project listening to young people's experiences of covid. The final report "Citizens Rising" was released with Save the Children in April 2022.

Providing fundraising, network and strategy support to the founders of this new initiative to tackle excessive corporate power and monopolised markets. Helped secure key grants and facilitated strategy development process.

Tackling educational inequality by supporting children who are falling behind. Led growth from unfunded pilot to professional organisation which has worked intensively with >1500 children and >3500 volunteers.- Impact: Children make 52% faster-than-expected progress in reading.- Strategic leadership: Balanced leadership and collaboration to embed strong vision and values. Created the structures to set, evaluate and review progress along with staff, trustees, and stakeholders.- Evaluation & learning: Designed award-winning theory of change (ToC) and evaluation plan.- Building teams: Designed non-traditional hiring, management and support structures to build strong team of 14. Created strong organisational culture, supported leadership of others.- Building coalitions: Engaged diverse partners around shared mission by re-framing educational vision. Developed innovative partnership model between schools, families, local community and local council. - Community Hub: Led refit to create “The Ship of Adventures”- a 4-storey learning hub complete with secret passageway, flying boat, magic phone and shop selling children’s work.- Governance: Established 8-strong board with diverse expertise. Enriched formal governance with volunteer- and child-led steering groups, and a diversity and inclusion advisory group.- Income generation: Raised >£1.2m from trusts, companies and individuals; earned 15% of income from school partnerships.- Acclaim: Winners of FSI “Small charity, Big impact” award (2017); Finalist Ben & Jerry’s “Join Our Core” competition (2012). Enabling young people to be involved in decisions that affect their lives by helping them develop thoughtful voices on social, political and economic issues. We work with ten year olds and upwards in the UK who particularly need to be able to have their say.- Offer support and guidance to the Chief Executive on business development, communications and general management- Fulfill general trustee responsibilities around strategy, compliance and financial oversight

Ashoka is the leading global network of social entrepreneurs.- Led national programme to identify, select and support leading social entrepreneurs (Fellows); built and managed network of referral partners from non-profit and business sectors; conducted selection interviews; wrote problem analysis and profile documents; managed international due diligence process.- Provided support for social entrepreneurs from over 30 countries across the global Ashoka network, working on issues including prison reform, solar energy, education, economic development and human rights- Developed and systematised support processes; designed strategic problem solving sessions between Fellows and business leaders; helped build and sustain a network of law, PR and consultancy firms including Hogan Lovells, Egon Zehnder International and PA Consulting.

Recruited via the Teach First programme, which seeks to tackle educational disadvantage by training teachers to work in low-income communities. Salisbury School is a large comprehensive school in North London (now called Nightingale Academy).- Taught Citizenship to 500 children a week, planning and delivering lessons to develop pupils' knowledge, skills and experience to become active and engaged citizens- Wrote the new curriculum for the school for delivery to all pupils via a team of 5 other teachers- Led active Citizenship programme giving 1200 pupils hands-on experience of community projects
