He founded İmat İnşaat A.Ş., a family company, in 1978. He did various contracting work, the largest of which was the cooperative construction of 135 flats.In 1979, he established the multi-partner İmat Bilgisayar A.Ş. and started importing PCs and software from abroad.In 1986, he installed the X25 information system, which was a pre-internet technology, in Turkey for the first time. Meanwhile, the Swiss Canton of Neuchatel invited him to settle in Switzerland for the continuation of his studies, with the promise that Switzerland would offer its possibilities. He established an information sales company in partnership with Nezih Demirkent, owner of Dünya Gazetesi. Imat became one of the most important companies of the period with its sales.In 1991, he took part as a Turkish partner in the establishment of NTC Telebilgi with the partnership of Sweden and the Netherlands.In 1993, he was appointed chairman of the company Serdengeçtiler Agricultural Production Partnership, which has a production capacity of 7000 trees and 1000 tons.In 2003, he founded Özgen Insurance Reinsurance Brokerage out of his wife's insurance agency, Nilgün Başer. He chose to concentrate on his areas of expertise. The department of the company that sells policies on the internet in the country and abroad for the first time became a diploma thesis at the ITU Faculty of Business Administration in 2005. He transferred the operational management of the company to Derya Başer in 2021.Canel Başer has been managing two R&D projects at the intersection of the agricultural sector and the insurance sector since 2009. The projects benefit from the support of academics from different universities in our country, especially Çukurova University and ITU. The first of these is the project to improve soil quality with various minerals. Only the first part of this project related to water conservation has received patent protection. While this part was going on, he received a proposal from England to settle there twice in order to benefit from the world-wide opportunities of Great Britain. The second project is the frost damage detection project in fruits, with the support of digital technology and artificial intelligence. It was continued with the expert support of Tarsim. The project has patent protection. The pilot period of both projects has been successfully completed.Canel Başer believes that the driving forces of Turkey's development will be technology and modern agriculture.
