Served as an associate general counsel for an independent special district focused on sports and live entertainment. This includes regularly reviewing and redrafting license agreement for use of the special district’s facilities for special events to minimize risk and to ensure compliance with Florida Statutes governing local governments. Acted as land use associate counsel for two Bay Area school districts advising them on legal issues relating to the zoning of their properties. This also included negotiating with private land owners impacted by the school districts’ actions and filing any necessary land use related actions and applications, such as variance requests.Regularly served as associate city attorney for two municipalities, including serving as board counsel advising the City Commissions on the variety legal matters that come before them. This also included drafting the ordinances, resolutions, and agreements, as well as advising the Cities’ administrative personnel on a variety of legal issues. Assisted supervising partner on a major land use case involving a novel Planned Unit Development concept before the Tampa City Council, including assisting in compiling evidence and arguments to be used during the hearing. Assisted various businesses through the local alcohol beverage permitting process, including drafting the application, advising them on regulatory risks, and interfacing with the local government on the client’s behalf. Drafted multiple substantive motions to dismiss in a critical eminent domain proceeding between two taking authorities, which argued for an extension of existing takings principles. Drafted multiple substantive motions to dismiss on behalf of a municipality in a case against a property owner. Served as land use counsel for both companies and not-for-profits to entitle land for development through a planned development process.

In 2020, as a summer associate, I conducted legal research and drafted memoranda of law for use in advising supervising attorneys on nuanced points of Florida law and portions of multiple fifty-state surveys for use in advising clients on regulatory requirements of various jurisdictions. I also updated a presentation regarding the status of federal legislation pertaining to COVID-19 to be given by supervising attorneys before the regional chamber of commerce.
