Having previously updated their IT infrastructure I returned to manage the delivery of their IT estate expansion project and also to deliver the staff training program. Budgetary constraints were the primary factor when creating the baseline plan for delivery, and posed the single biggest challenge. Due to changes in staffing and tighter budget constraints I had to modify my approach to ensure that the solution delivered was of a high standard and performed to requirements. With constant staff rotation a recurring problem I was unable to rely on resource availability, sometimes on a few minutes’ notice. This made scheduling work a real challenge and a test of my negotiation skills to get the most out of the resources available on a given day. Key Achievements:• Managed Network Infrastructure Upgrade Project which was completed within one month from inception to completion.• Managed Server and Desktop Expansion Project which despite having actual budget cut by 25% during implementation was still delivered on time and to requirements.• Continue to provide Remote Support to on site resources when required.

Taking this role allowed me to showcase the entire range of my skills from Microsoft Technical to Project based. The Finance directorate of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust initially employed me as a Technical resource to work on an upgrade project for their System Migration of Oracle Financials to release R12. However, once this project ended my contract was extended multiple times. This allowed me to undertake a project to migrate the Finance Directorate File Server to a new array, along with BAU support to the Finance users. This was an amazing role to work in due to the sheer volume of work involved every day.Key Achievements:• Part of a 3 person team providing direct support to Finance Directorate.• Technical Resource on Systems Migration of Oracle Financials to Release R12.• Technical Resource on Office Move of Finance Directorate from Site at the John Radcliffe Hospital to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.• Lead Resource on Finance Directorate File Server Migration.

Due to having family in Mpumalanga Province South Africa I was able to secure a short contract role based in South Africa. Having visited the area on holiday it became known on the town airfield complex that I was a “computer guy”. I was offered the opportunity to run a project to overhaul the companies IT infrastructure and modernise their working practices. This was extremely challenging due to language barriers and lack of resources. I began with performing an audit of company IT assets and explaining the benefits of a proper IT Infrastructure to senior management. I was then able to secure budget to upgrade the IT infrastructure, gaining praise for the improvements upon completion. Key Achievements:• Planned, documented and implemented a full upgrade of the IT Infrastructure. This included Desktops, Printers and a server with backup. Trained on-site resources in the support of new infrastructure. This completely modernised the company systems and improved productivity, whilst reducing consumable costs.

Due to Bank of Ireland restructuring I was offered the opportunity to move into the WINTEL Support Tower. My role was to support the entire of Bank of Ireland's Northern Ireland Operations. This allowed me to develop strong remote support skills providing support to the systems and users based on the Irish mainland. In addition to working as a server specialist I was also responsible for day to day remote support by phone and email for over 300 users in Northern Ireland to 2nd line.Key Achievements:• Member of the Bank of Ireland Virus Response Team and was heavily involved in Anti-Virus and Malware defence across Bank of Ireland server and desktop estate during several large outbreaks. These efforts went unseen by day to day users however gained myself and the team praise from management.• Personally responsible for over 300 servers with a mix of NT4, Server 2000, Server 2003 and Server 2008, both virtual and physical.• Member of the project team tasked to automate monitoring and patching on Bank of Ireland servers using RADIA/OVO/OVPA tools to HP Policy.• Successfully transitioned to a full time home office based worker whilst working within the ITIL v3 framework.

This role presented a greater challenge due to this being a multi-site environment encompassing a mobile workforce along with permanent onsite staff. Due to my demonstrated technical ability and reliability I was given responsibility for Support of Bank of Ireland’s key UK payment processing centre, OSCEP in Birmingham. This included not only remote and local support, but also using my technical skills as a technical resource on externally run projects.Key Achievements:• Technical Resource on project to implement a site move of Bank of Ireland’s UK based payment processing centre. This was a complex project involving multiple levels of stakeholder, key 3rd party suppliers and the onsite implementation team. The move was completed without incident and more importantly without downtime. I received very positive feedback on my role within this project.• Technical Resource on a project to launch Blackberry remote email devices and BES Server to increase productivity of mobile workforce. This included device configuration, server management and roll out project planning, testing and implementation. Management was very pleased with how this project positively affected the mobile workers productivity.• Performed Windows XP Builds to upgrade Bank of Ireland Business Finance’s mobile workforce from NT4 based Dell laptops to HP/Compaq Windows XP Laptops.

Initially employed as a Technical Trainee, within 12 months I was promoted to the more senior role of Networks and Systems Administrator. Reporting directly to the Operations Director I was responsible for a number of IT projects over my 3 years with the company. In addition to developing excellent support skills to both internal and external customers I reduced company costs by implementing IT solutions for a variety of problems that simplified work flow and increased productivity.Key Achievements:• Managed staff remote access scheme project to allow telecommuting• Managed File Server Implementation project for DR purposes.• Planned and Implemented Collaboration Applications using MS Exchange and Outlook to increase staff productivity.• Managed Email Migration of MS Exchange 5.5 to MS Exchange 2000.
