I am presently employed as a senior level network engineer with an industrial metal company with a national presence. This is a second career for me. I spent most of my adult life in the emergency services. What does this mean for my employer? I thrive in high stress environments, I think on my feet, make decisions fast and adapt to dynamic situations. I believe communication, adaptability, and learning capacity are the key to an individuals part in an organizations success. I enjoy working with large converged networks and with sub-organizations within that have different needs. I believe that the network *is* the application. I am naturally curious and look for the why something works (or doesn't) and not just how to make it work. This carries over into my troubleshooting skills and ability to follow the packet. Specialties: IP networks, Cisco routing, switching, and security platforms, dynamic routing protocols, network performance enhancers (e.g., load balancers), network monitoring and management.
