About Daniel Christensen

From an early age, I gravitated towards the arts - writing, drawing, designing, dancing. Being an introvert and rather shy, it seems like tasks that allow me to lead from within and offer the opportunity to design/streamline the spaces around me - are a perfect fit. If my job isn't creative in itself, 9 times out of 10 I'm going to find a way to make it happen. I'm the creative guy that puts his crayons back in the box exactly where they came from. Rather contradictory, but it works for me. I have found that at the end of the day, for me to be truly successful - organization and creativity need to be at the core of what I'm doing.

Coastal Community Bank is the fastest growing bank based in Snohomish County, and has the distinction of being the number one ranked SBA lender in the county's financial market. We fought alongside our customers during the financial crisis that hit in 2008 and have come out stronger than ever. With a family of 10 branches throughout Snohomish and Island counties, we've embedded ourselves in the communities we serve and support. And, we continue to grow with two new branches in the works - opening by 2015.With our finger on the pulse of of what's happening in our communities and our hearts invested in the people and businesses that make up our neighborhoods, Coastal Community Bank is ready to help you "fight to win." Our sleeves are rolled up. We're standing beside you.My current role is now the third I've held at Coastal Community Bank. Where my previous roles had me on the front-line, this role has brought me out of the branch and housed me in the heart of the bank - where I get to work directly on promoting Coastal's brand, voice and image. Being able to help direct/broadcast a company vision and way of doing business that I completely believe in, makes my job not only fun - but rewarding. The day-to-day in my current role with Coastal, has me elbow deep in creative endeavors while utilzing my innate organizational skills to keep our department streamlined. Whether designing collateral or sponsor ads - managing current company logo merchandise - working with vendors to find/create new merchandise - managing Coastal's social media platforms - or - organizing various files and streamlining processes, my day is robust and varied. In a Marketing department of three, various hats are worn throughout the day. The flexibilty and creativity at the very core of this department is what makes coming to work every day not just a joy, but a privilege.
  • Coastal Community Bank
    Customer Service Representative
Coastal Community Bank Jan 2014 - Jun 2014
    Camano Island, Wa
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) role was my second at Coastal. The promotion from Lead Teller continued my banking education and solidified my belief in Coastal Community Bank and the way they do business. Being a community banker means customers aren't just customers - but rather, neighbors, friends and family. Coastal Community Bank employees don't just work in the communities they serve, but volunteer, live, shop and play there too. During my time as CSR I focused on maintaining and deepening current customer relationships while building new ones. Believe it or not, I even had a fan club. I continued utilzing cash handling skills and took on the added responsibility of being the vault teller for the branch. I helped train new staff members and continued my work in keeping the Camano Island branch organized and stream-lined.
  • Coastal Community Bank
    Lead Teller
Coastal Community Bank Apr 2012 - Jan 2014
    Camano Island, Wa
After 8 years of the undeniable privilege of getting to be a stay-at-home dad - watching my daughter grow and learn - due to the economic down turn, I headed back to the working world. Funny story - I'd never been in banking. I'd never even considered a job in banking. My previous work history was administrative assistant work, and retail before that. While helping me look for potential work, my partner saw the job opening in a local publication and told me to go apply for it. I did. And I couldn't be happier with how it's gone.Though I love my current role with Coastal Community Bank more than words can describe, I truly believe getting the opportunity to start my career in the banking industry where I did made all the difference. I had the opportunity to not only learn banking, but learn banking the way Coastal does it. To say I'm hooked and truly believe in this organization is putting it mildly.During my time as Lead Teller, I made a lasting impact on the Camano Island branch and the customers that frequent it. I hit the ground running and immediately began finding ways to improve processes and the visual presence of the branch. I even created a "furniture fixture" to help not only organize the main teller area, but to improve on the customer's visual experience. I also created a "lollipop tree" that brought many smiles to the faces of not only our youngest customers, but customers of all ages.I continued to learn and grow and push myself out of my comfort zones in order to become a real asset to the branch and the bank as a whole. I honed my customer service skills throught my daily interactions with current and new customers. Beyond my daily cash handling tasks, I took on the management of various other branch related functions, including auditiing new accounts, the daily balancing of branch cash, and building of new account kits.
