I stepped into the role of Data and Analytics Manager, without prompting, after my predecessor resigned. I knew there was a gap in leadership and felt personally compelled to assume the responsibility of leading our team to success.In my time as Data and Analytics Manager I have guided and developed a diverse team of full-time, intern, and off-shore contracted professionals through improving technical skill and delivering valuable business intelligence solutions.I enjoy all aspects of my position from team development to solution design, strategizing initiatives which align and support business objectives, and even developing Power BI reports. Although we have had challenges with finding the right fit of staff, we’re now hitting strides and delivering new reports every week.• I joined the IT Department at the inception of the Data and Analytics Program at Woolpert. Since then, I have developed our operational framework, job descriptions, goals and training, technical documentation and guided our technological and architectural decisions. This process organization has allowed our team to operate efficiently and consistently to deliver positive business outcomes quickly.We are currently in the process of implementing Azure Data Lake and Synapse Analytics with Dynamics 365 to accommodate near real-time reporting for the operations and finance teams.From nothing to something great, I am very proud of the excellent team and capable program we have built.

As the Lead Data Engineer for Woolpert I had the opportunity to build our entire BI infrastructure from the ground up. We started with the implementation of Azure SQL and Data Factory. We collaborated with Subject Matter Experts from the business to create a modern data warehouse using the proven Kimball dimensional modeling methodology.As the data warehouse took shape, we also began developing sophisticated and substantial Power BI Reports for finance and operations. The reports included organizational performance metrics and their associated targets and variance. The organization had this information in one place without manual effort for the first time ever.• The new Power BI reports saved hundreds of hours of copy/paste development in Excel and gave daily insight into performance, leading to faster and more informed business decisions.It was a very challenging and rewarding experience in personal growth and creation of business value. I continue to leverage the skills in technology that I learned while working as Data Engineer to aid my team in tailoring architectural design patterns and mentoring more junior members. The information I share increases the depth of knowledge for our team and gives flexibility and continuity as we work with the business.

The Phase Manager role gave me an opportunity to experience project management at different levels. I was responsible for managing several deliverables on dozens of projects, assisting with status meetings, project scoping and pricing.• I successfully completed $300,000+ of project revenue on time and under budget resulting in a positive customer experience and repeat business.The majority of the phases I managed consisted of SSRS or Crystal Report development that I also delivered. As the Lead Report Developer, I created a project estimation tool which saved several hours of unbillable project planning work every time a new project was scoped and priced. Over the lifetime of its use this added up to hundreds of hours of time saved. The use of this tool enabled project managers to feel comfortable with our contract estimates and allowed me to focus on tasks which generated revenue.As subject matter expert in report development for Accela Automation and Cityworks Asset Management, I created and administered training programs to our customers’ developers. These were great opportunities to meet new people, share my knowledge and help support the future success of our customers.In addition to training our customers I was able to coach and mentor my peers in report development. This gave greater flexibility in scheduling and enabled us to increase resourcing on at-risk deliverables.My time as Lead Report Developer and Phase Manager was extremely enlightening and opened my mind to the power of finding efficiencies, and creative ways to collaborate and share knowledge.

My experience as a Team Leader was very enjoyable and fit well into my strengths as a professional. I feel most satisfied professionally when I am able to support my peers and associates and help them succeed.One of the major roles that the Team Leader plays is that of coordinator. I was responsible for a highly diverse, cross-functional team of 10 developers, analysts and consultants. I would coordinate with several project managers and other team leaders to ensure alignment of skills, cost, and availability of resources to best complete project deliverables on time and on budget.Most of our projects were based on lump sum contracts thereby making resource cost management highly important. There was a very high variability in resource cost between junior and senior resources which made planning resource assignments a significant challenge.• I developed a tool which used available project fee and resource cost information to take the guesswork out of resource assignments on a given phase which saved several hours in planningI cared for the people I worked with and wanted to see them grow personally and professionally. Since we were dispersed across the US, I made it a priority to keep in contact on a regular basis with all team members. I helped to set goals that would push even the more seasoned team members toward greater performance.I enjoyed leading my team to excellence, getting to know each person individually, and delivering successful projects.
