I hold international patents in noise control, sonic tagging of e-waste and liquids monitoring. I have validated problems and invented solutions and products that have won multiple national and international awards.I know firsthand the ups and downs inherent in all invention and innovation, and I’m fluent in the practical considerations that must be taken into account for innovation to be successful, not just a glamorous talking point.Arup attracts and employs the world's leading talent. Silenceair won Invention of the Year on the ABC’s New Inventors, among other national and international awards.The potential uses of the technology include any product or situation where it’s critical to reduce noise and allow natural ventilation or fresh air flow. Examples include building ventilation, computers and automotive vents, but also fan-forced and traditionally noisy consumer goods like hairdryers, fans and air-conditioners.Being involved in the many steps from inventing to commercialising Airqube has given me deep insights into every aspect of the long road from of conceiving an innovation or invention and taking it to the market. Inventing or innovating can be intensely rewarding, especially the creative elements, but many of the steps in taking a product to launch involve learning hard lessons — like negotiating commercial and contractual terms, including licensing, royalties and sales performance requirements. And every step is important — great ideas can fail the same as bad ideas if they are not executed flawlessly. Show less

Acoustic consulting services offered include sustainable acoustic design, building acoustics, environmental acoustics and design of performing arts spaces.
