Charles currently heads up Sibanye Stillwater’s Americas region, comprising the Stillwater and East Boulder mines in Montana and the largest PGM recycling business in the US, the Rhyolite Ridge lithium joint venture in Nevada, together with other JV’s in Canada and Argentina. Prior to joining Sibanye Stillwater he worked in the mining industry in South Africa and the United States, in a range of executive roles with Anglo American Corporation, RFC Corporate Finance and AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. Charles has led corporate teams in strategy, business development, corporate finance, business planning, risk management, investor relations and communications, and global HR. He has also overseen Anglogold Ashanti’s wide ranging change management and operational improvement intervention - Project One - encompassing business process improvement and requisite-based people systems, and has had executive accountability for the company’s emerging business in Colombia. He has served as a director of the Rand Refinery, Africa’s largest metals refinery business, and has chaired the Anglogold Ashanti Fund active in philanthropic work across Southern Africa.
