Help Desk Manager/Network Administrator
Virgin Islands Government
I managed the day to day operations of the IT Service Desk, which handled all technology related issues within the Virgin Islands Government. I was the team leader, and was tasked with ensuring that all goals were met by the entire team. I was responsible for making purchase recommendations for new technology and equipment based on client needs and the Department’s budget. I was also responsible for staffing the helpdesk, which included serving as the hiring manager, screening employees and making salary recommendations. I also supervised ten (10) IT technicians ensuring that all service calls/tickets were resolved. I was responsible for troubleshooting and solving network connectivity issues for both WAN and LAN. I also served as an analyst for new network design and implementation, along with handling the configuration and maintenance of servers and routers. I have extensive TCP/IT experience, IP Routing protocol, subnet mask, and OSI Model knowledge, along with Cisco command line experience.Key Contributions:• Assigned Departments to each technician which increased their accountability to open tickets, and increased their efficiency. With Departments assigned to the technicians, the clients knew who their point of contact was, and management could easily follow-up on escalated issues.• Instrumental in the design and implementation of an inter-island wireless network in the Virgin Islands. This network is the largest wireless network in the Caribbean that stretches across 5 islands. This network connected crucial departments, and reduced the need for commute for hundreds of Government Employees.
