I embarked on my journey as a licensed Physical Therapist over 25 years ago. My specialty is neurological disorders and orthopedics for the older adult and geriatric population. Over my career and through developing treatment regimens for a variety of diagnoses, I discovered a love for brain injury and stroke patients. I believe with continuing changes in healthcare as a clinician, I must use my creative hat to assist patients to increase their functional abilities, positive outcomes and overall quality of life. I am a brain injury survivor after experiencing a stroke in May of 2014. I understand first hand the barriers and fears to coping with an acute illness. This life changing event gave me a deeper appreciation of patients and a different perspective as a patient advocate. I joined the Brain Injury Network in 2015 as a member and I'm a former member of the Board of Directors. In my current role, I carry a partial patient caseload performing patient evaluation/treatment, developing the plan of care and completing Functional Abilities and Goals assessments. I am proficient in Revenue Cycle under the Cerner software for patient scheduling and Excel. I manage therapy staffing grid and labor hours to integrate therapist to patient ratio, resource allocation and overall productivity. For new employee onboarding, I am a trainer of a program of patient/staff handling for injury prevention and educate physical therapists on therapeutic documentation and workflow. I organize and coordinate full-time and per diem therapists/patient daily schedules and therapy intensity compliance. I support rehab services and manage new patient admissions and acute transfers to ensure accurate census on the hospital master patient schedule. Directly, I manage employees to address daily challenges and supervises physical therapy assistants. I participate in fall prevention, patient satisfaction and diversity committees.
