Celeste is a Chartered Senior Process Engineer in Stantec’s Water Group with 8 years’ experience in the water industry. Celeste has broad experience in water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades, master plans and designs for Australian water retailers and regional water authorities. Currently, Celeste is the design and commissioning process engineer on the Yan Yean Water Treatment Plant Upgrade. Celeste was seconded full-time to Melbourne Water’s Water Quality and Process Improvement team as the Drinking Water Quality Management System Coordinator and ensured drinking water compliance and led internal audits. Celeste concurrently acted as the Southern Operations Process Engineer, providing process optimisation support across Water Supply and overseeing the commissioning of the Kallista Fluoride Plant.Celeste is the Immediate Past President of the Victorian Australian Water Association (AWA) Young Water Professional Committee and coordinated and chaired the YWP Program for OzWater19. At Stantec, Celeste is the Global Developing Professionals Group Leader, meeting monthly with Stantec’s Global COO and managing a team across 17 countries to coordinate events that connect developing professionals with each other, leadership, professional development opportunities and the community. Celeste is passionate about mentoring and set up a mentoring program in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Water in Cambodia. Celeste has also been a mentor in the Women@RMIT and Industry Mentoring programs since 2015 and has supported several mentees during that time. Celeste was awarded 2019 Women in Industry Mentor of Year and was a finalist for the AWA Young Water Professional of the Year 2021 and Engineers Australia Young Professional Engineer of the Year 2021.

As the Developing Professionals Group (DPG) Leader for the Global Region, it is my responsibility to coordinate the DPG activities in each country outside of Canada and the US, connecting our developing professionals across the Stantec globe, and encouraging networking, integrated working and community involvement. In this role I am an integral part of the Stantec DPG leadership team which consists of the overall DPG Network Lead, and the DPG Regional Leads for each of Canada, US and Global. I work with senior and executive leadership to engage and mobilise our developing professionals to accelerate a technology forward approach, communicate our Global Strategic Goals and to provide a conduit between C-suite and our DPs. The DPG is centered around connecting our DPs to each other, senior leadership, professional development opportunities and the community. East Werribee Employment PrecinctMelbourne Water, 2016 to 2017Celeste was the primary point of contact for the client throughout the project and liaised with key international technologists to produce the reports. Celeste developed the cost benefit analysis, risk assessment and design intent of the East Werribee Employment Precinct.Greenvale Reservoir Diatom Bloom Management Melbourne Water, 2016Celeste worked closely with Melbourne Water to collect data for the reservoir management project during her secondment. Celeste undertook the forensic analysis of the water quality data and collaborated with international technologists to ascertain the causes of the Fragilaria diatom bloom.Western Treatment Plant Investigation into Treatment AlternativesMelbourne Water, 2017Celeste led the basis of design for four treatment scenarios at WTP, including process flow diagrams and treatment plant layouts. Celeste worked with Pro2D2 and CPES during the detailed Scenario Development. Celeste also completed an odour risk review of two of the scenarios. Gippsland Water Factory Anaerobic Reactor Capacity AssessmentGippsland Water, 2017Celeste determined the capacity of the anaerobic reactors and the benefits associated with incorporating an additional yoghurt-based waste stream. Celeste calculated that the reactors had capacity for an additional three truckloads of yoghurt waste per day. Not only would this increase the methane production to be used to power the plant, it would provide an economic opportunity for Gippsland Water to accept industry waste and charge for the service.
