Celia joined the Conviction Review Unit of the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office in April, 2024. Prior to that, Celia held various positions at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, including Assistant Visiting Professor of Law (Criminal Procedure I and Foundational Lawyering Skills), Executive Director of the ABA-approved Paralegal Studies Certificate Program, Director of Career and Professional Development, Faculty Advisor for the Criminal Justice Society, and instructor for Hofstra's summer and winter trial skills programs through the National Association of Trial Advocacy (NITA). Prior to her work at Hofstra Law, Celia was a partner at a prominent New York City criminal defense firm, handling all aspects of cases from inception to post-verdict motions. In this role, she represented individuals charged in complex white-collar crimes involving securities fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, grand larceny, Medicaid fraud, criminal antitrust, tax fraud, and RICO, in addition to those charged with serious felonies such as homicide, rape, kidnapping, arson and drug offenses. She has also served as a legal commentator for FOX News and a guest lecturer at several local law schools. While in private practice, Celia also served as a member of Hofstra Law School's Dean's Advisory Board.
