Plan, organize and direct the activities of Protection and Control technicians such that the installation and maintenance of related Transmission facilities is accomplished in accordance with the action plans and goals of the district, region and business unit. * Direct the Protection and Control organization to ensure the effective operations of the District's transmission system relative to transmission and substation performance and reliability. * Develops and maintains a highly skilled and diverse workforce. * Maintain a working knowledge of complex and highly critical technical details of events and activities for the purposes of reporting and analyzing system equipment failures and undesired system operations. * Plan for and provide proper facilities, equipment, tools and training for Protection and Control Technicians to effectively carry out their assignments. * Ensure that Protection and Control Technicians are well informed, trained and capable and exhibit high levels of ethics. * Establishes priorities and arranges work flow so that all construction and maintenance responsibilities are met within budget and scheduling requirements. * Monitor readiness, capabilities, procedures and resources to ensure a highly effective response toward emergency restoration of District facilities. * Develop and maintain effective interfaces with the other internal functions and sub-functions, large industrial customers, other utilities and contractors/suppliers. * Actively participate in task force assignments, planning sessions and strategic development meetings, which impact the short and long term direction of the Transmission Business Unit. * Responsible for performance appraisal and assessment, salary administration, discipline and career development of District employees.

Plan, organize, manage, and control daily activities associated with operation, maintenance, construction, and diagnostic testing to ensure bulk power availability for the transmission grid and from substations in the district. Assist in restoration of transmission lines in the district.
