"Development of a decision support system for production planning" (in portuguese)Grade: 18/20In this project, performed in a company that supplies the AUTOMOTIVE and AERONAUTICAL industries (certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS 9100), the productive operations scheduling problem was studied. The productive context analysed, a job shop environment, it’s one of the most complex and difficult to solve.Despite existence of an ERP/MRP with a production planning module, the schedules are generated without this support. Given the circumstances, and in order to increase the flexibility and automate the planning process, a decision support system able to consider sequence-dependent setup times was developed.Although has been defined a linear programming model for the operations scheduling, finding optimal solutions would require the use of optimization software with high cost. For this reason, heuristic models based on priority rules (FIFO, SPT, Min. Slack, Critical Ratio, etc.) were implemented in a spreadsheet.The encoding of heuristic model (Visual Basic), and subsequent integration of a spreadsheet-based interface (Excel), led to the development of the desired decision support system. This allows the generation of feasible production schedules through various priority criteria and their performance evaluation.
