I also managed and executed directly the Digital SMBs program. The main objectives were: go from 2 million to 8 million internet connections, go from 7% to 50% of SMBs connected to the internet, and go from 200 to 700 towns connected to the internet (x3.5)I helped to guide the strategy and planning of 13 consultation and proposal development projects to design new ways to tackle the issue to achieve giant leaps, not small steps, as part of the overall +40 projects within the Vive Digital Plan. Executive Director ► Uplifted Internet Skills Of 150,000 People In Rural/Remote CommunitiesFundacion Internacional De Pedagogia Conceptual Alberto Merani Upe 2009 - 2010This not-for-profit organization is one of Colombia's most respected consulting organizations for the development of education programs for government and private education. ► I managed overall business performance with a focus on its largest project, a US$ 18 Million contract with the Ministry of ICT. The goal was to install and operate 755 telecentres in 755 different towns and train the population in these towns to use the internet. When I started, the project did not comply with the initial contractual goals. The relationship with the client (Ministry of ICT) and the ally (BT – British Telecom) was challenged. Merani was exposed to millions of dollars in liabilities and sanctions that could have prevented them from contracting again with the government for at least 10 years. The first challenge was a hearing of discharges for non-compliance with the Ministry of ICT set for 2 weeks after my arrival. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗜 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱:✓ Preventing Merani from getting multimillion-dollar sanctions and consequences to their business✓ Increasing Merani’s reputation within the public sector✓ Achieving outstanding financial results for the project✓ Securing a US$6 Million extension of the contract✓ Increasing revenues by 40% and EBITDA from -5.5% to 24.4%, transferring what was learned to other projects✓ Gaining new contracts with the governmentIt was intrinsically inspiring to achieve the desired results and impact in the 755 towns, showing the citizens the government's commitment to give new opportunities to these faraway places in Colombia.
