Topic: Fatigue life mechanics study of rubber-based composite materials.Brief Description: The project aims to identify damage mechanisms on materials used by Goodyear for tires elaboration when submitted to fatigue loading.* X-ray micro-computed tomography on various materials (filled-rubbers, polymers, composites, 3D printed materials, metal alloys, and others) for identifying and quantifying their heterogeneities and defects;* 3D reconstruction and image analysis via Avizo and ImageJ;* Mechanical characterization (quasi-static and dynamic) coupled with Digital Image Correlation;* Formulation-processing-performance relationships by coupling µCT, SEM, AFM, DMTA and mechanical testing with 3D and 2D DIC. Use of statistical software for data interpretation. Empirical relationships are stablished to relate the compounds durability to the initial morphology and matrix behaviour;
