About Charles Harding

I am a 4th generation petroleum engineer with a desire to innovate, impact, and contribute to the oil and gas industry just like my forefathers. I am currently working at Baker Hughes as a cased hole well integrity geoscientist based in Houston, TX.I graduated the University of Oklahoma in May of 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering.I have had 4 oil & gas intensive internships with 3 different companies. In said internships, I have been exposed to production engineering, reservoir engineering, facilities engineering, completion engineering, refinery work, downstream chemical work, lab work experiments, field work, and office work.I have lived and worked in Midland, TX, Houston, TX, and Shreveport, LA.I have had projects over: field-wide skin factor analysis focusing on remediation and economic solutions, real-time data monitoring & optimization, quality assurance/improvement for chloride titration tests in crude oil and frack chemical usage and optimization to maximize well production.I have a passion for innovation and research. I have interests in geothermal development, alternative natural gas usage, real-time data, automation, data analytics, and increasing worker safety.

Charles Harding Work Experience Details
  • Baker Hughes
    Geoscientist
Baker Hughes Jun 2024 - Present
    Houston, Tx
  • Halliburton
    Field Engineering Intern
    Halliburton May 2023 - Aug 2023
    Bossier City, Louisiana, United States
I worked as a part of Production Enhancement Service focusing on diesel and electric fracking crews. Was onsite in the Haynesville Basin and was mainly field-based, meaning I got lots of hands-on exposure and comprehensive training in safety, programming, and fracking. I worked in function as a member of a remote intern project that evaluated the utilization of frack chemicals for maximum production and effectiveness based on historical performance of Halliburton fracked wells in the area. I functioned as the team leader and enjoyed the project management part of this experience. I was in the field for 11 weeks and on the 12th week I presented. This presentation was a group presentation discussing fracking NAL chemical (FR, gel, and breaker) use, optimization, and recommendation to upper management including the Director of NAL Frack.
  • Baker Hughes
    Technology & Engineering Intern
    Baker Hughes May 2022 - Aug 2022
    Sugar Land, Texas, United States
I worked in Downstream Chemicals Product Line with focus on the refining segment. I was all office based, with half my time spent in a cubicle and the other half in the on-site petroleum fluids lab. I collaborated with Application Engineers, Cross Functional Teams, and Group Leads on crucial and arduous projects. My main Summer Project was creating a Real-Time Analysis Program for Desalter Performance. I was tasked with laying the foundation for the service line's digitalization and automation initiative. I presented a proposal for real-time desalter performance to upper management including the Vice President of Downstream Operations. I was further tasked with a secondary presentation to pass-on learnings to the head of Data Analytics in India. My lab-based project focused on quality assurance for the chloride titration test, which was used to determine the chloride levels in crude oil. I was tasked with evaluating the various methods of this test to recommend the most effective and accurate methodology for future test conduction.
  • Conocophillips
    Production Engineering Intern
    Conocophillips May 2021 - Aug 2021
    Goldsmith, Tx
I spent 10 total weeks working out in the field office. I learned how to run an operator's route, perform basic pumper tasks, and how surface production facilities operate. I also spent five of my ten weeks shadowing a workover rig. I wrote workover procedures, optimized well production, and studied under rod pump subject matter experts for conventional wells. My project was creating a skin damage assessment for a field using pressure transient techniques and analyzing the economic impacts for remediation solutions. I also dealt with bottom hole assembly enhancement, flow assurance, multi-zone flow analysis, and decline curve analysis. I had extensive training on rod pump specific, artificial lift evaluation and optimization, fluid level interpretation using sonic waves, and production workovers. Some of that said training was taught to me by the Vice President of NAL Production. I worked mostly remotely with my cross functional project team, but I spent my last 2 weeks working in the ConocoPhillips headquarters in Midland. There I learned how to properly conduct myself as an engineer working in an office environment. I presented my findings to upper management including the VP of NAL Production.
  • Conocophillips
    Virtual Engineering Intern
    Conocophillips May 2020 - Aug 2020
    Online
Video Learning Sessions by subject matter experts served in place of an in-person internship (due to COVID-19). The video learning topics included: Unconventional Resources, Drilling & Completions, Geosteering, Artificial Lift, Marine Influence in Ancient Deltaic Deposits, Digital Oil Field, Exploration & Development Roles, and Industry Sustainability. This incredibly difficult and uncertain time taught me the keys necessary to properly communicate virtually/remotely. This opportunity also taught me there will always be new and exciting technologies developing in this industry, so it is imperative to never stop learning and expanding your knowledge.
  • Fuller Paving

Was partially in charged of worker safety. Implemented safety improvements regarding line of fire, sunscreen availability and application, hydration checks, and hazardous chemical awareness. No accidents occurred while I was on the crew. Over 45 jobs were completed during my time there.
