Hello! My name is Christopher Fountain and I am a current senior Mechanical Engineering major with a minor in Engineering Corporate Practice at the University of Notre Dame. I am originally from the Chicago suburbs - Montgomery, IL to be specific.Outside of the classroom, I have spent time on the Notre Dame Rocketry Team (NDRT) and undergraduate research. NDRT is a design team primarily geared towards Aerospace and Mechanical engineers that challenges students to design, manufacture, and launch a vehicle given set specifications by NASA Student Launch Initiative (SLI). My sophomore year saw me taking up a leadership position as the team's Safety Officer, exposing me to Project Management and managing team safety. I have also spent time on the Apogee Control System (ACS), Vehicles, and Technical Editing Squads. I am primarily interested in pursuing a career surrounding the Civil Engineering field with a Mechanical Engineering background, possibly in the Project Management industry.As an undergraduate research assistant, I spent time working on an earthquake shake table and editing an existing code to add a capability that allows it to simulate past real-life earthquakes. This project was picked up by Clemson University for further development.To fuel my school spirit, I invest my time rehearsing with the Notre Dame Band. To be able to provide entertainment through music is a wonderful opportunity, and I take advantage of such an experience by performing in the pep band for both hockey and basketball games, the symphonic band, and the marching band.To round out my college experience, I also participate in undergraduate teaching in the Philosophy Department and Engineering Corporate Practice department through my role as a TA, engaging the community in their faith through my role as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, sharing my love of Notre Dame through being a tour guide, and involving myself in Keenan Hall as a Resident Assistant - my residence hall. I am also an avid runner and love spending time outdoors.
