Appointed to the role to provide technical support and expertise to the sales team and to develop and deliver engineering projects to the Victorian OEM customer base which included manufacturers in the transport, infrastructure and defence industries. Key tasks included initial engineering design and concept creation, the development of bids and proposals, creation of project plans and setting project requirements, signing off on engineering drawings and quality tests, and also managing the development, production and delivery of large scale technical projects.

Appointed to the hardware design team and tasked with the design and development a range of bespoke underwater connectors to customer specific requirements for the offshore oil and gas industry. Key responsibilities included liaising with customers to understand requirements, producing technical designs to support bid documentation, developing productions ready systems, managing system testing and producing standard operating procedures for the end user. Key achievements: Leading the design of a novel onshore test rig that validated the customer’s subsea connectors on land in multiple angles of installation. Introducing a new methodology to improve the efficiency of equipment tests which reduced the total cost of sacrificial parts required by 50%.  Finding and introducing design efficiencies to the subsea connectors that enabled their safer and easier transportation by using existing load bearing holes and removing the need for additional and excessive lifting lugs.

Responsible for delivering a variety of different sized engineering products to specific client requirements across multiple industries. Key achievements: Developing a lightweight pipe fitting for future aeroplane engines that achieved a 25% mass reduction when compared to conventional fittings. Driving the design of a new freefall lifeboat transport cradle which achieved DNV standards approval for use in service. Leading the concept design phase of a liferaft protection shield. These were approved by the customer and generated further development contracts for the company.

Responsible for bringing into service a variety of defence technologies and equipment to the UK Armed Forces. Key achievements: Coordinating a capability trial of UK defence technology on US soil. Was the sole advisory partner for the MOD whilst during this time. Seconded to the Bloodhound Supersonic Car program (Britain’s next land speed record attempt) and furthered the design of various systems for it.
