Field-promoted to management, Deployment Orchestration SWE/SRE team. Handle day to day management responsibilities for a small team of 5 people designing, developing and maintaining a stack of microservices which implement safe, incremental rollouts of service updates to Apple's 80,000+ server fleet of kubernetes clusters. Responsibilities include advocating new services and policies, running sprints, communicating status between management and staff, mentoring junior team member and developing software.During this time I successfully advocated for my replacement as technical lead, assisted team members with professional, technical and inter-personal conflicts with other employees, advanced new project proposals through both team-consensus and organizational approval, increased staffing and oversaw delivery of critical customer requests in a timely manner, and helped to create an environment of mutual respect and a shared focus on technical goals. Also delivered a lot of software.Major projects:Orcafoil: safe, protected deployment orchestration for kubernetes cluster. Was technical lead designing and developing the orchestration engine, service configuration and error collection components of a suite of microservices that currently manage safe incremental deployments to tens of thousands of kubernetes nodes across multiple clusters in multiple data centers. Major projects:Rex: GRPC encrypted, highly parallel, remote command execution engine; a tool to allow SRE's to execute commands, in parallel on thousands of hosts simultaneously without having to maintain a long-lived connection to do so. Also allows SREs to delegate commands to less-privileged users or bots to be run at a future time. Written in Go.Saga: a service to manage server states across a network, Saga facilitates hardware provisioning and allows servers to moved in and out of production as needed, as well as providing information about how hosts in a work-unit are configured. relies on etcd, elasticsearch and various internal tools. Written in Go.Warden: a service to manage hardware dependencies on servers. Warden makes sure that hardware components from multiple vendors are functioning and at the correct firmware revision. Warden also tracks components over time to facilitate MtF data gathering and inventory tracking. Written in python and relying heavily on elasticsearch and various internal tools. Written in Python

Was a senior Linux systems administrator for Apple's MobileMe and iCloud platforms.Major Projects:Back To My Mac: was the principal systems engineer for BTMM, responsible for the maintenance and scaling of both the primary transport service and the service discovery cluster. BTMM was a difficult service to run as the system was not designed for easy scaling or to handle upgrades. I advocated for, and implemented, BTMM's cluster resiliency policies and maintained the load balancers that insured high uptime for the transport service, as well as designing and implementing the process for safe, rolling upgrades.
