My name is Chad Black. I graduated in the top 5% of my class at the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a bachelors degree in Computer Engineering with primary focus on Embedded System Architecture and Design. Currently, I recently graduated from the FCG (Ford College Graduate) program within the IT department of Ford Motor Company in February 2018, and have resided within my new role as an Implementation Functional Safety Engineer for over a year.I have had a variety of jobs that have expanded my working base quite significantly - working in restaurants, leadership roles within my own school, and collaborating with contractors to finish projects worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for the City of Novi. Ford is the next step in my career, exploring into different career opportunities as a Ford College Graduate. This entailed three 1-year rotational IT positions to expose myself to different parts of the company and even further expand my working base. Now that I have graduated from the program (Feburary 2018), I have taken up the next step of my career, working as a Functional Safety Engineer.I see myself as a leader. Not someone who follows the crowd, but rather creates a path of my own for others to follow. I'm not saying I won't follow when needed to, but I am not a conformist - I want to be able to explore, try, and fail at different things at life so I can learn. I am organized, well-disciplined, and strive to find the answers to the questions I seek. Learning from the choices that you made can be powerful tools that will propel you throughout the rest of your career.
