Lead the Process Engineering Group, responsible for maintaining the Houston site’s critical Process Safety Management (PSM) program. The site operates 24/7 and employs 200 people producing 600 different resins, amines, sulfonates and other products needed in the Agro and Oilfield markets. Processing includes use of reactors, blenders, and kettles in batch production.• Essential duties encompass reviewing all engineering design proposals, analyzing all Management of Change (MOC) initiatives, conducting Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and serving as one of the plant’s RC14001 (American Chemical Council’s Responsible Care initiative) Auditors. o Process all MOCs - an average of 20 assessments per month. Each assessment includes a detailed risk evaluation, assessment of process design, and safety review. o As RC14001 Auditor, perform annual reviews over one-third of the Houston plant. These reviews ensure compliance with ISO 2001 standards. o Perform detailed PSSR reviews for projects for all capital projects. o Tasked with day-to-day troubleshooting, along with implementing Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) recommendations. • Currently manage Process Engineers, a Senior Process Engineer, a Chemist and a Contractor who functions as a Project Manager.

Eco-Services is a leading producer and supplier of Sulfuric Acid for industrial use. Formerly part of Rhodia, which was acquired by the Solvay S.A. chemical company in 2011. Solvay sold the Eco-Services unit to CCMP Capital in December, 2014.Operated a sulfuric acid regeneration unit, Oleum production, and a hazardous waste incinerator under OSHA’s Process Safety Management and EPA’s Risk Management Program regulations. Plant employed up to 225 United Steelworkers Union members and produced an average of 900 tons of sulfuric acid daily. Operational responsibilities included all aspects of production process control and safety: plant start-up, shut-down, maintenance and repairs, transfer of product, Basic Process Controls System changes, and operation of Safety Instrumented Systems.• Developed detailed equipment and processes Operator Training Manual and Program for operators and engineers.• Managed capital expenditure budget and annual maintenance turnaround budget of $1.5 million.• Responsible for annual maintenance procedures and outcomes. Process required a 2-3 week production shutdown and maintenance effort requiring >12 hour work days. Directly responsible for key maintenance decisions including repair vs. replacement of equipment.• Member of corporate on-call emergency response team.• Managed 10 direct reports, including Engineers, Production Supervisor and USW Process technicians. Trained 6 Process Engineers and Developed & Qualified 4 Process Technicians.• Annually performed an average of 20 OSHA Hazard Level B Confined Space inspections.• Presented operational and safety best practices at semi-annual corporate operations meetings.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area & Arnhem, Netherlands

Worked with production operations in the U.S. and Europe to design, establish, and improve industrial scale production of treated wood products. Also, designed production processes for plants in Ireland, China, and Saudi Arabia. Reported to Chief Technology Officer. • Responsible for all aspects of process design and improvement for the industrial scale ability to react wood with acetic anhydride to produce a more stable and durable product. Critical job responsibilities included process safety, operational efficiency, product quality, and production volume. • Identified numerous production shortcomings, principally missing processes and procedures, causing waste and inefficiencies. Drove operational changes through to implementation. Example: Optimized cycling pressure and temperature of batch reactor and staggered its use resulting in 40% reduction in time needed to produce product, 30% increase in volume, and 15% reduction in energy consumption on a per unit volume basis.• Developed 5 Chemical Engineers, including individuals from Asia, Africa, and North America. • Submitted Patent Applications for commercial scale wood chip acetylation processes

Baton Rouge, Louisiana Area

Responsible for Continuous Process Improvement for energy, chemical, and wood pulp production units. Managed all small and moderately complex CAPEX projects. Provided guidance on production rates based on inventory, operational issues, and equipment availability. Used SAP system to plan and schedule maintenance projects.• Managed 20 ROI improvement projects delivering a total of $1 million in annual savings. Projects included ones to measure flow on water wells, amps on motors, well casing damage, flow-production, and fine water security. Essentially, developed assessments of pump wear and established ability to generate warnings before a component part breakdown took place.• Provided critical support during startup for a $270 million, 78 megawatt boiler and turbo generator capable of producing 1600 PSI steam pressure. The Induced Circulation Fluidized Bed (ICFB) petroleum coke boiler initially failed to operate as designed. Identified production and mechanical flaws which needed to be addressed to achieve desired processing.

Served as an Intern during college and hired as a Process Engineer post graduation. After one year of full time employment, I was promoted to Shift Supervisor of a union facility.• As Shift Supervisor: Supervised 3 process units (Utilities, Chemical, and Woodyard) and 18 direct reports (1 Mill Wright, 1 Electrician & Instrumentation Technician, and 16 Process Technicians). • As Process Engineer: Served as Project Coordinator & Operations Leader for operationally critical improvement projects including biomass gasification, water purification, tall oil production, and boiler feed water demineralization. Also conducted chemical and utilities process safety training classes for process technicians.• As Intern: Designed and installed a dye system to significantly improve color quality control using the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE), L*a*b* color space coordinates.
