As a lab technician: Assisted with care of captive waterfowl and snakes, caught turtle and some non-venomous snake species of central Virginia, and data processing.As an undergraduate researcher: Wrote a proposal to study the effects of feeding regime and incubation temperature of Wood ducks on duckling ability to thermoregulate. Supervised and coordinated a pilot study using 60 Mallard ducklings to refine the methodology for the Wood duck study.

Participated in cordon-and-knock searches of suspected insurgents’ houses.
