Medical Records Technician
CurrentDuties:- Utilize Cerner Millennium (MHS Genesis), JLV (Joint Legacy Viewer), AHLTA, HAIMS, CHCS, AVHE and Paper Record Tracker (PRT) systems.- Perform basic Front Desk and customer service functions. Provide patient documentation as requested and authorized by HIPAA.- Review outpatient treatment/health records to verify that all components of the record are present, complete, and filed in proper sequence.- Utilize electronic medical records system. Extract pertinent information relating to medical history.- Prepare and process authorization for disclosure of medical records from Soldiers or physicians.- Verify patient identification and eligibility of service using Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System rapids system for eligibility of service in medical facility.- Answer phone calls and provide customer assistance to patients coming into the medical records department, referring to supervisor or other staff member as necessary.Related Skills:- Perform computer reimaging, software / hardware configuration and troubleshooting for the department.- Perform computer, monitor, printer and scanner installations.Accomplishments:- Peer Expert, conduct MHS Genesis training of Outpatient Records Room staff on department specific tasks.- Point of Contact for trouble tickets.- Assisted with streamlining workflow tasks and processes using the MHS Genesis System. Tasks such as creating a patient record CD, processes such as improving scanning speed utilizing the legacy scanners and steps needed to modify scanned documents in order to append or insert additional documentation to the record. Created numerous Job Aids for the department and frequently called on as a SME.- Department primary point of contact for the Windows 10 migration. Attended weekly migration meetings with IT and other department POC's to resolve the issues that came to surface after the migration. Provided guidance of how to resolve issues with the migration as well as workarounds.
