I took over the stock & bought out the machine rental, of the prior coffee company Smooth Brew, and ran it as my own. I rebranded it Barbell Cafe with the help of my father and his two friends. They assisted me with the initial capital and I did the rest. Cup branding, product creation, prepping & service. Daily operations Mon- Sat during the class times of the gym (5am-8pm). I purchased all the stock and catered food during the event period.

Smooth brew , a coffee brand based in a CrossFit Gym in the north, teamed up with us at CrossFit Alberton. I was hired to sell coffee, smoothies and health meals to the members of our gym, while doing my job at the time of managing the gym. As there are only people before or after an hours class, it was manageable to do both jobs. However after lockdown the owner could not sustain the stock for two branches so I bought her out once we were allowed out of level 4.

Every week myself and 3 other bartenders would open up the rooftop bar at 10am (working until 3-4am). Stock take, fill beer bins, prep cocktail supplies and set up for events. We mainly served beers, ciders, shooters & 1 of 4 cocktails (Mojito, Caipirinha, Long island & Cosmopolitan). Who ever made the most sales each night was given a grand bonus, which I held for 6 weeks in a row.
