I was fortunate enough to gain experience in criminal litigation and bail applications, consultations with clients and stakeholders, legal research, drafting and investigative skills.

BLAsc partnered with the Department of Justice and constitutional development to expose law students to the court environment. We helped all clerks with their duties and assisted magistrates when required.Skills gained includes:1) Opening of case files , along with issuing case numbers: This allowed me to better understand processes explained in class and further highlighted the importance of filing documents on time.I was able to draw up the court Roll and pull all files appearing.2) Consulting with victims of domestic violence and assisting with protection orders: This experience taught me consultation skills with clients and taught me the correct court procedures for domestic violence cases. 3) Sitting in court and working with the prosecutor: This taught me court process and etiquette. It exposed me to cross examination and allowed me to grasp an understanding of what to expect in court and what was expected of me.This entire experience exposed me and our members to life after varsity and taught us valuable skills we will be able to transfer into a working environment.

I was the Media and Public Relations officer for BLAsc Howard College. During my time with BLAsc I designed and maintained a website for the chapter. I managed all social media accounts (Facebook, twitter and Instagram). I put together BLAsc’s first ever Cyber Day and invited an expert to talk to students about social media and the law. This event was aimed at promoting both cyber law and being careful not only of others but of ourselves and what we do online.This event was successful and reached many student.
