Currently I work at the Natural Resources Defense Council at the Environment, Equity, and Justice Center (EEJC) as a Senior Manager. Formerly, I served as the Health Equity Lead on the SPARCC (Strong Prosperous and Resilient Communities) Initiative centered on racial equity, climate resiliency, and health equity. I was a 2020 Bloomberg Fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and currently sit on the American Public Health Association (APHA) Center for Climate, Health, and Equity Advisory Board. I graduated from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University with a double major in Political Science & Policy Studies & a degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Economics. In the early 2000's, I co-founded @DivestSU, an organization that gained a fossil fuel & coal mining divestment commitment of $1.2B from Syracuse University. We achieved this through educating stakeholders on the financial and political benefits, partnering with environmental advocates, and launching @DivestSUESF social media. This campaign also led to the divestment of the SUNY school system. As a small group we grew membership to 500+ through targeted letter writing, editorial launching, and direct action strategies. DivestSU was recognized by environmentalists Van Jones and Naomi Klein and was featured in the Guardian.
