As part of the Resourcing Leadership Team, I have responsibility for leading a team of 5 to deliver our early careers and employability hiring across a number of our key business areas.Key Responsibilities: - Understand the needs of the business, helping to define the approach to meeting skill and capability needs through the ongoing design and transformation of early careers and employability initiatives.- Lead a recruitment team of 5 with overall responsibility for the management of candidate pipelines and delivery against recruitment plans aligned to commercial priorities and workforce demand, via a variety of programmes including graduates, apprenticeships, internships, work experience and employability programmes, ensuring diversity goals are achieved.- Understand demand (skills, capabilities, and numbers) for the different business areas resource requirements working in partnership with HR Business Partners.- Provide thought leadership on the continuous development of recruitment approaches, anticipating market trends, and identifying the right tools to deliver longer-term recruitment outcomes for the business.- Lead the team to deliver high quality work by leveraging each person’s strengths and range of expertise ensuring performance is optimised throughout the year, recognised, and rewarded appropriately, whilst maintaining a healthy sense of wellbeing and role modelling the SSE leadership behaviours.- Drive continuous improvement and consistency across the team, ensuring that candidate experience is at the heart of everything we do and that we are embedding best practice, sharing knowledge and insights and championing quality in the delivery of our recruitment approaches.

I lead the creation and delivery of our talent acquisition strategy for our annual intake of circa 100 Engineering Apprentices, Trainee Engineers and Graduates.I’m responsible for project managing the delivery of our recruitment campaigns, ensuring we have the right quality and supply for our pipeline talent programmes. A key element of my role is to engage with key external stakeholders and manage relationships with universities, colleges, schools and professional bodies. I also support the Group strategy and key goals around Inclusion & Diversity and its implementation specifically within our pipeline talent recruitment campaigns. I am currently focusing on ensuring our recruitment processes and attraction strategy is inclusive, actively working to improve our channels of engagement to encourage diverse applications.

My role sits within operational recruitment with a focus on providing advice and guidance to recruiting managers on all aspects of recruitment from the process, screening, attraction and selection.

This role involved working within a busy office environment supporting various high volume recruitment projects. I provided support on projects with clients such as esure, HSBC, Children’s Panel, Sky and Scottish Water.
