Continued as a long-term POC for incoming capstone students working on the 1U CubeSat. Senior capstone project deliverable is a 1U CubeSat, designed and fabricated to measure variations in atmospheric density and aerodynamic drag at altitudes between 90 and 500 km. The nanosatellite, machined at Old Dominion University, is equipped with a unique drag brake system in order to intentionally modify the satellite's drag coefficient during orbit. Together with VT and UVA cubeSats, the constellation of 1U cubesats will quantify atmospheric density as their orbits decay due to atmospheric drag.Individual responsibilities are as follows:- Subteam member in charge of physical design and operation of an antenna deployment module. Housing was required to safely store 6" antenna elements and appropriate electrical hardware within a 10mm height allowance.- Ensure design does not interfere with other subsystems (i.e. solar panel placement, drag brake deployment, etc.)- Designated historian (circa 2016 - 2017): recorded and followed up weekly subteam meetings into action items. Serving as an academic resource for fellow university students was my first step getting involved within Old Dominion University. I began my Fall 2014 employment in the tutoring center to observe how the MSRC operated. The next semester I took on the leadership role as a Supplemental Instructional (SI) Leader. Every week I would lead multiple classes of +20 students in College Algebra up to Calculus; providing them a second glimpse at their professor's lecture material. Group activities and customized worksheets allowed students to participate and hone problem solving methodologies.
