Chuck is a graduate of the University of Manitoba receiving a B.A. in History and Political Science and his LLB in 1975. He was called to the Bar in June, 1976. Chuck practices in Winnipeg with Thompson Dorfman LLP, primarily in the areas of Family Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Real Estate and Wills and Estates. He has extensive experience in all areas of Family Law. He has been a strong advocate for his clients in all courts in Manitoba dealing with a variety of matters including, property accountings, child support issues, spousal/common-law partner support disputes, custody and access. Chuck has also been very active in the preparation of Pre-Nuptial Agreements, Common-Law Partner Cohabitation Agreements as well as Separation Agreements. He has expanded his practice to incorporate resolution of contested matters by employing creative alternative dispute resolution techniques. This includes Collaborative Law, Mediation and Arbitration and the use of necessary third party experts when required. From time to time Chuck has been asked by other lawyers to act as a Mediator to assist in resolving client disputes. As part of his practice he often collaborates with other lawyers at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP in the areas of family businesses, wills, estates, real estate transactions, taxation and alternative dispute resolution.
