ResponsibilitiesI am responsible for processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders within the purchasing authority. I manage the vendors the company trades with and carry out quarterly vendor assessments on a needs basis to ensure that the company gets the best rates possible from all the vendors, while developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and management. My other duties include:1. Inviting, assessing, and awarding/recommending supplier tenders, bids, quotations, and proposals.2. Establishing and negotiating contract terms and conditions, while maintaining supplier relationships. 3. Preparing and maintaining purchasing records, reports and price lists.4. Working with other branches and the various departments to determine procurement needs, quality, and delivery requirements in a timely manner.5. Assisting in the development of specifications for equipment, materials, and services to be purchased.6. Administering contract performance, including delivery, receipt, warranty, damages and insurance. 7. Reconciling and resolving value discrepancies.8. Complying with and maintaining knowledge of applicable rules, legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices in line with the profession.9. Coordination of all imports and ensuring required suppliers/ customs documentations are done in good time prior to arrival of consignments/ shipments at the port.10. Liaising with the contracted clearing and forwarding firms to ensure imported raw materials/spare parts are cleared within set time.11. Export coordination on sending out samples and equipment for repairs.12. Obtaining required Customs approval from Kenya Revenue Authority on items being exported for repairs and return.

2007 – 2014 Nampak Kenya Limited Procurement OfficerMy major duties included expediting all orders for goods and services required to ensure that they are supplied within the specified time, at the right price and quality. I ensured that the manufacturing manager approved through a trial brief or in writing any new product, while maintaining the materials specification file in light of changes that arise from development of new product and obsolescence of others. My other duties included:1. Maintaining approved supplier list and developing alternative Suppliers2. Reviewing of materials lead times/usage with a view of advising changes that are required in the planning parameters to ensure that stocks are kept in control, while anticipating material shortages.3. 2006 – July 2007 Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers Stores SupervisorAs the Stores Supervisor I was in charge of Centralized stores and offered overall supervisory of all stores activities.
