Hi! I am a third-year student at Tufts University with intentions to double major in quantitative economics and chemistry. From the chemistry unit in 8th-grade science class all the way up to my recent completion of a summer course in macroeconomics at Yale University, I have long straddled the line between biochemistry and financial economics. However, instead of isolating myself to a single field of study, I have embraced this dual dynamic of my academic interests. Specifically, I have found that these two fields not only seamlessly complement each other, but oftentimes build upon each other as well; just as how dollar amounts on both sides of a bank's balance sheet must be equal, the total number of atoms on both sides of a chemical equation must always be brought to equilibrium as well. In other words, whether dealing with money or magnesium, I have found my all-encompassing approach to chemistry and economics to be mutually beneficial: the problem-solving and critical thinking skills developed through my time in chemistry allow for the analysis of economic questions through a unique, distinctive, sophisticated lens. Now, as I continue to progress through this planned double major, I hope to augment my academic development at the crossroads of my chief interests with professional opportunities in the financial field.
