My final summer working at Epworth Forest Conference Center it was my job to plan and host “That Show”. “That Show” was a portion of the daily session in which I delivered a short monologue, gave the daily announcements, lead the students in a short game, presented a video, and finally ended with some ideas to consider from the video. My portion of the session typically lasted for 10 minutes. Additionally, I was responsible for planning and leading the “That Show Club” – an optional activity in which students could participate. “That Show Club” met everyday for thirty minutes and followed a curriculum I designed. At the beginning of the week, it was my job to welcome the students as they arrived on site. For anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour I would lead the students through activities and MC until every group had arrived.

During my first two summers working at Epworth Forest Conference Center I worked as a member of the activities team. As an activities team member, it was my job to encourage and lead nearly 300 students per-week through sometimes difficult activities such as climbing a rock wall or swinging on a thirty-foot swing. At other times, it was my job to keep students engaged by leading them through small group activities which emphasized team building. Throughout the summer it was the overarching goal to invest time and energy into the students to empower them to return to their communities and make a difference.
