Charles has held senior roles in 11 tech firms, managing strategy, sales, marketing, IP and finance. As Liaison for USC Information Sciences Institute to the U.S. Air Force, Charles implemented the first Internet node used by the military. Charles helped develop the first DoD Internet system and since then has developed five Internet-centric companies; a financial services company for events (FTS), an inventory system for vitamin retailers (2bNatural), an online media buying service (FMC), and ISDN voice/data products (Connective Strategies, Inc.), the first commercial Internet VPN system for banks and ISPs (SafeNet, Inc). He also helped develop the first commercial email service, MCI-Mail.Charles has organized and managed U.S. and international direct and channel sales organizations, delivering average annual revenue growth exceeding 100% over his career. He has established relationships with Visa, BofA, First Data Corp., UPS, Sun, Cisco, U.S. Robotics, Kanematsu, Mitsubishi, Verizon, Chevron, GTE, MCI, the US Army and the USAF.Charles merged CSI, to form SafeNet Inc., a leading Internet security company. He ran sales, capturing 13 of the top U.S. banks growing revenue 318% in two years. He co-developed the SafeNet’s VPN product strategy with Dr. Vinton G. Cerf, producing a 10x increase in SafeNet's NASDAQ listed stock. He initiated the relationship with Cisco, which embedded SafeNet IP into its routers. SafeNet, Inc. was later acquired by Vector Capital for $630 million.Charles has consulted to IBM, Bell Labs and has developed data networking standards for the NIST and IEEE. He served as the LAN Course Director for AMA, Data-Tech and DataPro for ten years and chaired the Marketing ROI program for “The Conference on Marketing” for three years. He is an adviser for the IT Innovation program UNO's College of IS&T. While in the Air Force, he maintained the Strategic Air Command computers and held a Top Secret clearance.
