As an evolutionary biologist, I've taken an unusual path into Cornell's Plant Breeding & Genetics PhD program, driven by a desire to address agriculture's role in climate change using insights from evolutionary history.My research in Edward Buckler's lab uses comparative genomics to guide breeding of climate-resilient, greenhouse gas-efficient crops. And we're learning about fundamental principles of gene regulation along the way.Post-PhD, I'm keen to engage in work that advances climate change mitigation/adaptation, whether in the public or private sector.
