Charles commenced his technical engineering apprenticeship with Greenbank in 1977. Studying at both college and night school he graduated in 1982 with HNC in mechanical and production engineering.After a period at the Royal Ordnance Factory between 1983 and 1986 as electro-mechanical development engineer, Charles returned to Greenbank accepting the position of technical development engineer in May 1986. There he concentrated on developing new products for the business before moving to the Site department in 1988 for a couple of years running job-sites and gaining valuable contracting experience.In 1990 he took the position of Engineering Manager at Greenbank and became the General manager in 1997 a couple of years after Greenbank's relocation from Burnley to Derby.In 1998 he helped lead a management buyout becoming Managing Director in July 1998 and immediately initiated the design and development of the company’s award-winning combustion optimisation technologies.Since 1988, the Company has significanly developed it's technical engineering capabilities and Charles is proud to have led, contributed to, and developed, the Company's culture and heritage.
