Manager Of It - Application Services

Current
Sep 2021 - Present

Application Services Team Lead

I manage two agile team backlogs for application services and DevOps teams. I am the Product Owner for three agile teams.I designed end-to-end deployment pipelines in Jenkins to automate the deployment process. I designed and developed reusable Global Pipeline scripts for Jenkins builds. I designed the implementation for both Artifactory and SonarQube to improve the development deployment process.I designed and help develop the workflow for automating the creation of Github, Jenkins, Liquibase, and SonarQube projects. This enables developers can start working on new projects faster. Designed an automated process for converting the toolsets (GitHub and Jenkins) and process for upgrading from Mule 3 to Mule 4. This resulted in shorter time to start conversion for every API we have developed.

Jul 2019 - Sep 2021

Sr Application Developer

Tinley Park, Illinois

I converted a BPM workflow from Oracle to Appian. I worked with the business owners and SMEs to simplify the existing process before developing it in the new platform. We redesigned the application to allow more extensibility by the users for changing the workflow without needing development. I converted an API created in .net connecting to Active Directory to MuleSoft version 3. I refactored a manual process for deploying Oracle code to Unix server. Created an Archetype for building liquibase projects. Consolidated multiple Jenkins instances into one server and migrated to the cloud. This resulted in both a production and development Jenkins environment.

May 2017 - Jul 2019

Senior System Analyst - Integration Engineer

Oakbrook Il

I am responsible for the Integrations of data between applications, business processes, and vendors. I have worked closely with the vendor Fiorano and implemented their ESB. We created publish/subscribe model and point-to-point integrations in many platforms. I have built Java Archetypes to allow developers to complete processes in an efficient and supportable manner. I work on the design for a majority of the projects that are assigned to my team. I have created documentation repositories and support documentation for many of our applications. I have re-defined our Maven structure to allow more flexible and streamlined deployments. I have worked to update Java, spring, and spring batch versions for our processes. Have started to migrate processes into new versions of Java. I am currently working to replace our existing ESB applications with WSO2. I continue to mentor and teach co-workers in Java, Fiorano, and Oracle PL/SQL.

Jan 2013 - May 2017

Systems Analyst

I was added to a project team to replace the existing Student system. I worked on defining the phased go-live approach with the rest of the architecture team. We defined which integrations would need to be converted and the phase of the project it would be needed. Defined new integrations that would be needed to support the go-live approach. Defined the timeframes needed for the development of all the integrations. We prototyped and developed the Oracle ESB and BPEL processes needed to accomplish the timeframes established. This enabled us to create a publish/subscribe model integration. This was also our first attempt at building an integration notion of near real-time (2 minute SLA) for syncing changes in one system to all of the subscribers in the enterprise. Learned and implemented Oracle AQ and Oracle Streams interfaces. Created a publisher java process and many subscriber processes for the project. I have worked on several integrations since go-live on a support role. Since the project completion I have redefined the Code Review process. Converted many existing java code base into Maven. Assumed team admin role of the Hudson deployment tool. Defined the deployment process and created the documentation for promotions. Worked with our tools team to refine our process and allow more robust scripts to automate more steps in our process.

May 2008 - Jan 2013

Programmer Analyst

I was hired to solve issues that the Keller Graduate School of Management was having with their custom developed student system. The Application was made stable again by doing a partial re-write of the application in Delphi (Object Oriented Pascal) connecting to an Interbase database. I worked on these enhancements and upgrades for the next two years.I was given a custom application developed for Becker when that application outgrew the support person's capabilities. I took this application and migrated the database from Access to MS SQL server. This conversion included a re-write of the application and all of the reports. Functionality of the system was enhanced to include additional features needed to keep the business functioning.I was recruited as one of the first development resources for the Student system replacement project. I participated in the design, implementation and training of the development staff on Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and Starteam. I wrote the coding standards PL/SQL. I was on the team until the completion of the go-live process and the successful conversion of all the data from the Delphi application listed above.Worked on integration new applications with data integrations. This included Unix Shell scripts running Oracle data loader and sqlplus application to fulfil business needs. This would be my introduction to Java and migration from SQL development to Java development.Worked with a team of developers to implement a front end replacement for a CRM interface. This was done by calling the exposed API and using the Oracle 10g BPEL platform as the back end to the web application. My responsibilities included wrapping the API’s, developing the PL/SQL layer to be called by BPEL and technical specification documentation.I worked on my first java application with my mentor to transfer data from our student system to our financial aid system. Learned how to code in Java and started working with application design.
