Developed blanket contract procurement strategies for tendering of major equipment and material requirements for the Transmission and Distribution Division of BC Hydro. Major initiatives included: • Manual and Automated Switchgear contract (approx. $70M) critical for the upgrade of downtown Vancouver’s ageing electrical infrastructure. This was a complex initiative which required close collaboration with the successful proponent and a separate engineering services agreement to finalize the automated design. • Five year blanket contract ($2M to $3M per year) for Cast Iron Manhole Covers and Frames. Achieved 30 - 40% cost reductions over previous contracts as well as an updated design from 1960’s era to leading edge which resulted in significant weight reduction as well as improved security and blast proof features.• PVC Duct and Fittings required province wide for secondary and primary circuits, worked closely with engineering standards to change from BC Hydro custom standard developed in the 1960’s to utilize CSA standard which achieved significant cost savings of between 30 and 40 percent as well no longer requiring substantial inventory.• Microwave Radio Contract to upgrade and replace existing units province wide. This project required substantial evaluation and testing as well as engineering guidance throughout the public procurement process.• Reduced rogue contracting by leveraging the appropriate language and terms and initiating an effective approval workflow process based on risk assessment, business impact analysis and deal model scenarios.• Maximized business performance while minimizing risk associated with vendor and customer relationships by tracking key performance indicators, SLA objectives, and the status of deliverables defined in contracts.
