I am an experienced and enthusiastic assistive technology and AAC assessor, trainer, and leader, who combines in-depth technical knowledge with clinical skills to ensure successful client-centered outcomes.I have been supporting disabled people to identify, adapt and use technology to overcome barriers since 1999. I have worked with children, adults and older adults with a wide range of limiting health conditions, physical and cognitive disabilities, learning difficulties, sensory impairment and mental health needs. I was also responsible for leading a major capacity-building project that created the first national, clinical AT and AAC service in the middle east region. This involved developing and negotiating service specifications with national rehabilitation chiefs while mentoring groups of occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, supporting them in developing their practice skills through a problem-based learning approach and through the delivery of a 10-day post-grad course accredited by Qatar University. In 2000 I developed and delivered an early assistive technology education outreach service to support disabled children in Suffolk with PD, LD, VI and AAC needs.
