Time spent as a summer intern for Prochaete with responsibilities including:• Generation of excel models to understand raw material input for shrimp production volumes.• Excel sheet updates to reflect product costs.• Support for the initial stages of introducing Oracle including mapping product distribution. • Coordinating with team members to understand finance/legal aspects to be considered for Oracle. • Handling of customer information through Salesforce software. • Distribution of investigative surveys to our contact network. • Contribution to Prochaete social media including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. Skills demonstrated: • Initiative and independent working whilst manager based overseas. • Effective communication through all channels including meetings, telephone, email, and Skype. • Advancement of IT skills, particularly Excel through model generation.

Being based within QA I was responsible for working as part of the microbiological team to ensure sampling and analysis was performed efficiently. Proficient with aseptic techniques and the use of membrane filtration. Additional projects undertaken both individually and within teams. Most notably:• Introduction of a new process within quality to minimise beer and packaging waste.• Identification and development of ways to reduce keg loss as part of an IP team. • Micro support for site projects focused on improving system efficiency and process optimisation. • Method validation for beta-glucan analysis using a Beermaster Gallery Analyser.Skills demonstrated and gained:• Understanding and completion of risk assessments and standard operating procedure writing. • Familiarity with SAP and iFix systems.• Comfortable with various laboratory equipment such as nucleocounters and densitometers. • Presentation delivery improvements with better audience targeting.• Time management in supporting the micro team and meeting project deadlines.

Part time work alongside year 2 of University study.Handling of customer information and initialising product testing with an external laboratory. Identifying an appropriate lab, arranging registration and booking in samples for analysis. Opportunities to visit other aquatic feed production sites as well as a shrimp farm in Belize. Experience gained in the shrimp health laboratory and microbiological laboratory, achieving greater confidence in aseptic techniques. Effective time management and independent working as line manager based overseas.

Individual day-to-day responsibilities included raising purchase orders using SAGE and processing shipment documents. Communication and excel skills were vastly improved whilst gaining appreciation as to another dimension of a production company.

Time spent in both the New Product Development Kitchen supporting recipe evolvement and within the factory, around the christmas period, on the packaging line. Development of an understanding of a consumer driven industry, undertaking individual benchmarking projects and working as part of a fast-paced team to produce in-specification products.
