ProChaete

ProChaete’s vision is to produce top-quality feeds for aquaculture, while reducing depletion of marine natural resources. ProChaete was set up in 2013 to produce, market and develop raw materials that make up the oil and protein elements of aquatic animal feeds, from polychaete derived products. We are dedicated to developing alternative feed ingredients and commercializing innovative feed formulations without (or with very limited amounts of) fish ingredients. We focus on using ingredients from farmed polycheate worms. Our polychaetes (Nereis virens) are farmed in ponds on our farm in Wales, and processed in our adjacent plant. Based on its origin and connection to the shrimp farming industry ProChaete has developed some unique maturation feeds for Crustaceans. We are also working with fin fish farmers to produce tailor-made feeds and feed additives for trout, salmon and marine species such as wrasse, lumpfish, sea bass and sea bream. We believe there's an exciting future for polychaete-derived feed additives, which tests have shown do a lot to improve the final flavour of the fish.
