Selected as an R&A Scholar by the University of St Andrews, and granted an international Travel Scholarship. I will be researching forced migration, climate change and climate-related displacement in the Pacific region, connecting with Universities and volunteering with NGOs.

Rabi Island, Fiji

2 months living and working alongside the Banaban community on Rabi, a remote island in Fiji whose population were forcibly relocated from Banaba due to colonial phosphate mining. Conducted participatory and community-centred research alongside the BHRDN. Explored experiences of forced relocation, local climate change impacts, and infrastructural development plans. Sensitively engaged in ‘storysharing’ and recorded stories of climate impacts for a new ‘Climate Mobility Hub’ at the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law in Sydney.

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

3-month internship with JRS Australia within their Policy, Advocacy and Communications team. Designed and independently completed a project on climate-related displacement policy. Included research of emerging trends and policy developments, and stakeholder engagement with academics, politicians, faith leaders, and affected communities. Presented research findings in both presentations and a report. Represented JRS Australia at the conference, 'To Hell with Drowning' at the Australian National University, Canberra.

Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand

2 months spent in Dunedin, New Zealand, hosted as a visiting student by the postgraduateCentre for Sustainability at the University of Otago, and volunteering with SDCN on local projectsrelating to community development and environmental issues. Managed social media and marketing content, and welcomed community members to the Centre.

Lésvos, Northern Aegean, Greece

2 months volunteering in Mavrovouni camp, on the island of Lesvos, Greece. Roles included working in the Shelter team, Information Help Desk, Education Outreach, and the Women’s Engagement Centre. In the Shelter department, work ranged from allocating new arrivals into certain areas of camp, preparing shelters, and organising food distributions. Also instrumental in setting up the Women's Engagement space, which included the vision, design and execution of transforming one area of camp into a space for creativity and respite. Experience working in a fast-paced and unstable environment, alongside a diverse and dynamic team.

St Andrews, Scotland, United Kingdom

6-week summer internship, researching the barriers facing groups that are underrepresented within modes of active travel, such as cycling. Organised and promoted a trial of adapted cycles in the local Fife community. Successfully implemented the pilot after writing grant applications and advertising the scheme. Authored a report on the findings, with a series of 'best-practice' recommendations and next steps, and presented these to Transition and the University's Environment Team.

I was selected as a Research Assistant to a Geography lecturer at the University of St Andrews. I first completed a literature review on participatory mapping with indigenous communities, particularly in the Peruvian Amazon. I presented my findings to an interdisciplinary research team at the University. I was then invited to return for a second internship, this time on 'Ecology as if People Matter', on how ecological research projects can best 'give back' to the communities they work with.

Human Section Editor for the Irvine Atlas - the Undergraduate peer-reviewed journal for the School of Geography and Sustainable Development. I managed a team of Peer Reviewers and Copy Editors, and manage the progress of the Human Geography articles from submission to publication. I am now a 'Copy Editor' for the Irvine Atlas, helping at the final stages of publication.

I manage a small team to increase awareness surrounding organ donation issues and the NHS register. A collaborative art exhibition planned for April 2020, aiming to generate awareness by bringing art into the medical domain, was sadly postponed due to COVID-19.
