I am a fashion merchandising major at Marist College interested in pursuing a career in buying. Due to the need to be an individual, I have loved fashion from a young age. My earliest memory is playing with Barbies, intricately styling each doll in a curated outfit that resembled what I saw myself wearing. Likewise, when styling costumes for a low-budget indie film, I created outfits that resembled the characters’ traits by analyzing their personalities and mannerisms. This experience helped me not only get acquainted with other industries, but develop an appreciation for going out of my comfort zone. I have always known that I wanted to work in a creative industry, craving a fast-paced and hands-on environment. I work well when I am inspired by what I am doing, and who I am surrounded by. I am fortunate enough to have traveled to five different countries including France, England, Iceland, South Africa, and Canada. I also have five years of experience learning French, which I am still trying to improve. I plan to incorporate travel as a priority in my future because I believe seeing different countries and cultures is necessary for personal growth and developing communication skills as well as empathy. When I set a goal, I diligently work until it is met. As a very organized person, I achieve what I set out to do through deliberate steps and lists of what needs to be done. Unfortunately, this means my notes app is always out of storage. I am proud of my work ethic which is the result of observing hard workers around me and always having an open mind for more knowledge. I have perfectionist tendencies, paying great attention to detail no matter what my project is. For example, even when I am doing a hobby like making bracelets, I make sure each piece is symmetrical and fits in with the overall aesthetic. This goes for all work that I do, both personal and academic activities.
