CK Futures Ltd. is a professional CV, LinkedIn and Interview Coaching business, offering services to help people at all stages of their career move into new roles. Specialising in helping people at potential risk in the labour market we work primarily with people affected by redundancy, those with gaps in employment, career starters, parent returners, people seeking career change and blue light leavers. Providing CV Writing Services, Consultancy and CV Training, we also work with employers who are restructuring (Outplacement services), welfare-to-work organisations and domestic abuse refuges nationwide. I oversee the day-to-day running of CK Futures, and make sure our projects and work contribute positively to society in line with our values. I remain hands on, working 1-1 with clients and writing daily whilst also working in collaboration with a team of CV writers for larger scale projects. As an experienced trainer, I create and deliver Masterclass training courses and workshops for clients and businesses in a range of sectors, creating bespoke training to match the needs of each client. In recent years, this has included regular workshops for the Police who are exiting the force. Alongside CK Futures, I am Vice Chair of the British Association of CV Writers (BACVW), working in partnership with the Board to promote ethical practice in the CV writing industry, remain at the forefront of this sector and build a community of trusted, expert CV writers. This was a HR generalist role for 700 staff across two premier Brighton hotels. Developing specialist skills in recruitment, selection, training and development, best bits included: • Significantly reduced high staff turnover levels through recruiting large numbers of new staff from different sources, changing the working culture, and offering flexi working hours (enabling parents to choose the hours they could work). • Connected the hotels to the community through networking and organising employment events. Created lasting relationships with leading community, back-to-work organisations and external partners such as the Job Centre, (still in touch with many today!) • Overcame a fear of public speaking (haven't stopped talking since), became a qualified trainer, managed induction training for staff, and delivered training up to manager level. This included training courses in interview techniques, disciplinary & grievance procedures, and customer service delivery. • Designed and wrote the monthly in-house magazine.

Hospitality role in Darling Harbour, Sydney before travelling up the east coast and sailing around the Whitsunday Islands. Bliss.

I didn't have a hospitality degree, so started in the cocktail bar, and somehow managed to convince the GM that having no prior hotel experience/or common sense, made me the best person for their intensive 1-year graduate trainee programme. I learnt more in this role than I did in my entire degree - working at supervisor level+ in all hotel departments within a 4-star, 300-bedroom conference hotel, this included Conference and Banqueting, HR, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping and Front of House. Towards the end of my training I was appointed as Night Manager for a few months.
