I am an intern with the Metropolitan Council in the I.T. department. I graduated in December of 2021 with a B.S. in Computer Science from Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, and I am eager to continuing applying my technology skills in government or non-profit settings to help others and hone my skills in data analytics and application development. My future goal is to improve my quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to analyze public policy impacting people with rare diseases and conditions.My strongest software development language is Java, and I have familiarity with working with databases, the fundamentals of operating systems and computer networking, algorithms and data structures, and other programming languages— including R and Python. My latest project as a volunteer for Interfaith Outreach involved using the statistics programming language, R, to code a script that automates cleaning missing data from spreadsheets. This has saved my supervisor and I time on data cleaning tasks. Additionally, I generate reports using RMarkdown on data such as the number of volunteers per month and the number of cashier shifts filled.When people say they derive more enjoyment from cooking when they cook for others than only for themselves, I feel similarly when I program for others. In addition, I am always eager to improve my skills, learn new things, and I am a detailed-oriented and resourceful problem-solver.
