VANESSA LAUREN is more than just a mere chef, she is a nutritionist, community advocate, and urban forager who currently resides in Costa Rica. She is motivated by a social responsibility to help improve the symbiotic relationship between Mother Earth and the modern world. She continues to inspire others on the benefits of quality ingredients and the value of community service.Vanessa meshed her passion for a whole foods approach to cooking and ancient cultural techniques starting in Los Angeles with her first private chef company, Healing Chefs (2010) where she was discovered for ABC’s culinary showcase The Taste (2014). Completing the show as a semi-finalist on Anthony Bourdain’s, she ended up with a job with Celebrity Chef, Ludo Lefebvre. Chef Ludo became her mentor, where she honed her culinary skills at Trois Mec and Petit Trois (2014-2015). This was the opening of a whole new world where she had the opportunity to work with several other amazing Los Angeles chefs including Jon Shook, Vinny Dotolo, Tim Carrey, Curtis Stone, and Ben Ford. She then helped Marcel Vigneron, as his executive sous chef, with opening his brick and mortar, Wolf (2016). In addition to working with amazing chefs, Vanessa has participated in several special events including cooking dinner at the James Beard House, Sundance Film Festival, Dinner Lab, and Summit at Sea. Currently Vanessa is working on her passion project as the event director for Explore Secret Garden (2017), a one stop shop for all event planning needs; including event design, decor & rentals, professional service staff, quality sustainable ingredients, and quality service 365 days a year. Her goal is to grow world wide by 2025, providing quality jobs, supporting world conscious brands and doing community outreach like creating community gardens in each location along with local beach/park trash cleanup and by incorporating no waste systems to reuse food waste and recycling.
