Hello! My name is Chelsea and I am an upcoming Social Worker, currently in my last year of my bachelor with plans to progress into a Masters of Mental Health and Neuroscience after. Let's be honest, I'll probably move into a Masters of Social Work as well and I could see myself attempting to obtain a PhD too as I am an avid learner. I have been developing my skills in youth support for many years through my work in humanitarian services all over the world. Working in locations such as South Africa, Haiti, Guatemala, Ethiopia and Thailand, I have seen poverty and struggle in many different forms. Working in youth ministries, however, brought me into my passion to support youth. I believe they go through so much more than they are given credit for.My own experiences with mental health difficulties and experiences of discrimination due to being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community make me a relatable and naturally inclusive service provider to young people. My clinical understanding of mental health, mixed with personal experience, help to make a significant difference in the lives of young people I have the privilege to work with.I have lots of experience in retail and food industries as well which developed my team work/building skills. Working directly with customers allowed me to provide excellent customer service, answer a multitude of questions and relate to people in order to sell products.
