Fork & Spoon Front Of House Manager
Human Resources Development Council (Hrdc) May 2017 - May 2019
    Bozeman, Mt
I was the Front of House Manager at Fork & Spoon, Montana's first and only pay-what-you-can restaurant committed to ensuring everyone in Gallatin County has access to a delicious and affordable meal. When I started in this position, Fork & Spoon was known as the Community Cafe. With a small team, I helped lead and participate in the entire rebranding and remodeling of the Community Cafe, including renovated interior, updated messaging platform, new name and brand, and updated menu and restaurant structure. It was a monumental and exhilarating job, and was incredibly successful in improving our community image, overall food quality and dining experience, and financial sustainability. As Front of House Manager, both at the Community Cafe and Fork & Spoon, I was responsible for Fork & Spoon's daily operations, including volunteer management, general restaurant operations, special events, dinner service, marketing and communications, community relations, fundraising, and personnel management. I helped launch and implement Pick Up The Tab, a fundraising campaign to raise money from community donors to support our pay-what-you-can model. I also helped implement a workforce development program, employing adults and youth facing barriers to employment.Fork & Spoon provides a suggested dinner price to its patrons, and they choose to pay the suggested price, a portion of the price, or pay extra to support those who cannot contribute. We served a very vulnerable portion of Bozeman's population, including homeless and low income individuals and families. However, in order to be a financially feasible operation, Fork & Spoon also served customers who were able to pay the suggested price or even pay extra. As such, Fork & Spoon was a unique restaurant in the Bozeman community where people across different socio-economic classes came together to enjoy a meal together.
